Social Network services

The social network websites reached the pick and become the first way of connecting people all over the world. previously there were networks like hi5, my space, class mates and others. But nowadays everything got changed with the revolution of these new social networks, such as Facebook, Vkontakte and Renren. 

Facebook was founded in February 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roommates , As of May 2012, Facebook has over 900 million active users from around the world, and ranked second globally with reference to Alexa : Facebook rank. I can remember that was Yahoo rank. Facebook is spreading rapidly and that attract the companies to invest and pay money in order to announce in it. We can classify Facebook as an International social network.

On topic of  International or National social network, Vkontakte is a Russian social network service popular in Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Belarus . Although they are using Facebook but they are more addicted to Vkontakte than Facebook. As of March 2012, VK has 118.8 million accounts but has acknowledged that it has a major spam problem, I have seen that in Russian Today channel. Vkontakte is ranked 46 in Alexa's global Top 500 sites and is the fourth most visited website in Russia. I'm using this social service for 2 years ago. I remember when I registered on that website they were asking the users to use local phone number and one of my Ukrainian friend help me with that but now you can register according to your country code. You have to visit that website Vkontakte .

Even China has it's own service. The Renren Network is a Chinese social networking service  formerly known as Xiaonei Network, that is a copy of Facebook. It has been called the Facebook of China. Xiaonei was started in December 2005 by University of Delaware graduates Wang Xing. In August 2009, Xiaonei officially changed its name to Renren. As we know that Facebook are not allowed in China so that enforce Chinese people to use the local networks. 

There are more and more of social network services around the world but these are the major website of this kind of social service where people are sharing their thoughts, photos, videos, meeting new people or even playing game. That actually what attract the companies to advertise on this services. As these websites are gathering users information and collecting their interests they have massive Database it can helps the advertiser to choose a certain segment of people aims to raise sales and that is the way how social services acquiring money. 

As we notice no day passes unless we have to pass through this service at least to read news or checking up our friends.
